Norwich tennis partners move on to state qualifier

BINGHAMTON – The Norwich girls’ tennis duo of Emma Brooks and Natalie Benenati are moving on to the Section IV State Qualifying Tournament after winning the play-in match against Chenango Valley Wednesday afternoon at the Binghamton Tennis Center.
“Emma and Natalie played great [Wednesday],” said Norwich’s head coach Nikki Brooks. “The two had great doubles, fantastic volleys, angles and lobs. Everything was working for them in this match.”
Brooks and Benenati defeated their Warriors’ opponents with two straight set scores of 6-2 and 6-2, earning the chance to represent Section IV at the New York State Championships on November 2 through November 4 at the Tri-City Tennis center in Latham.
First, the two will have to fight their way through the Class B bracket Friday morning, returning the Binghamton Tennis Center for the second time this week. Tennis action beings at 9 a.m.
