Elections for Norwich mayor, Guilford board and North Norwich supervisor still too close to call

CHENANGO COUNTY – The unofficial election results from Tuesday night showed no candidate with a clear victory in the City of Norwich mayoral election, with Shawn Sastri and Jill Osterhout-Kraft in the tentative lead.
As of election day, Sastri received 433 votes for City of Norwich mayor, Osterhout-Kraft received 394, former mayor Joe Maiurano received 350 and incumbent Mayor Christine Carnrike received 228.
The board of elections will process absentee ballots in the coming days. There are still 172 absentee ballots pending. The earliest results could be in is by Nov. 12.
Contested Common Council seats for Ward 3 Alderman: Nancy Allaire, 221; Scott Sutton, 165.
For Ward 5 Alderman: David Zieno, 121; Jennifer Olds, 72.
The Town of Guilford board saw a write-in campaign launched by a number of candidates over concerns to build some of the largest windmills in the country in Guilford. The election saw a high number of write-in that could still change the outcome for some races.
Despite a write-in challenge from Dan Harrington, Town Supervisor George Seneck was reelected to office receiving 402 votes, with another 284 write-ins ballots yet to be attributed, but they will not be able to overcome Seneck's ballot lead.
About 40 percent of all votes cast in the Guilford board election, 554 votes, are write-in yet to be counted.
The results of those races will change in the coming days.
Guilford board results from advance voting and election day: Terence L. Ives received 383 votes; Gilda Ward, 325; Richard Dunnigan, 72.
Write in candidates included Duane Reif and Rebecca Young for town council. No numbers were given for those candidates yet because they are write-ins. The top two candidates will be elected to the board.
The race for Town of North Norwich Supervisor is also too close to call said Republican Election Commissioner Mary Lou Monahan. “With only a few votes between the candidates we really will not have a result until after the absentee ballots are counted,” she said.
Timothy C. Brown has 185 votes and Robert E. Wansor has 180.
Voters across the region also voted for State Supreme Court judge in the sixth Judicial District. The post is a 14-year term.
With three seats open with five candidates the state results had the three republicans winning the race – Mark Masler, Chris Baker and Oliver N. Blaise III, ahead of Democrats, Claudette Newman and Pete Charnetsky.
The sixth Judicial District includes Chenango, Broome, Cortland, Delaware, Chemung, Madison, Otsego, Schuyler, Tioga and Tompkins counties.
According to the board of elections about 7,962 people voted in Chenango County on Tuesday. Another 674 cast absentee ballots and 436 voters took advantage of early voting.
Also notable in Tuesday's result was the unopposed election of District Attorney Michael Ferrarese with 1,120 votes.
Other unofficial results for contested elections throughout Chenango County included Town of Norwich Supervisor: Stanley Foulds received 490 votes and Debra A. Cubbedge had 283.
Town of Preston Superintendent of Highways: Daniel J. MacIntosh with 115 votes and Jeffrey B. Franklin with 83.
Town of Plymouth Council Member: Frank T. Williams with 157 votes, Garry R. James with 166 votes, and Craig A. Ackerman with 122.
Town of Coventry Supervisor: Jennifer B. Boudreau with 166 votes and Jan A. Andrews with 85.
McDonough Superintendent of Highways: Glen E. Naber with 103 votes, Diane E. Canaday with 68 votes, and Francis L. Tucker, Jr. with 63.
Town of Pharsalia Supervisor: Jeremiah James Micklas with 77 votes and David W. Soule with 43.
Smithville Town Council Member: Pamela L. Holcomb with 250 votes, Robert M. Whitmore with 249 votes, and BarbaraAnn L. Whitmore with 64.
Smyrna Town Supervisor: Michael R. Khoury with 263 votes and Garrard J. Burrs with 98.
Town of Coventry Supervisor: Jennifer B. Boudreau with 166 votes out of 255.
McDonough Superintendent of Highways: Glen E. Naber with 103 votes out of 236.
Town of Pharsalia Supervisor: Jeremiah James Micklas with 77 votes out of 120.
Smithville Town Council Member: Pamela L. Holcomb with 250 votes and Robert M. Whitmore with 249 votes out of 696.
Smyrna Town Supervisor: Michael R. Khoury with 263 votes out of 361.
