Community Job Fair returns November 13

NORWICH – The fifth annual Community Job Fair invites job seekers and students to explore career options at SUNY Morrisville’s Norwich campus on Wednesday, November 13. Sponsored by the Raymond Corporation and co-hosted by Commerce Chenango and SUNY Morrisville, the fair will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 20 Conkey Ave. in Norwich.

“Chenango County has many diverse employment opportunities to offer prospective employees,” said Kerri Green, Commerce Chenango President and CEO. “Making connections between employers and prospective new hires is a priority for Commerce Chenango and the entities which we represent. The Community Job Fair is a great place to see what is available, a chance for those looking for work to connect with potential employers and for those employers to connect with each other. Listening to the needs of our communities is the best way to develop new ideas and what better way to do that, than at a Community Job Fair.”

Some participating businesses will be interviewing candidates at the Job Fair, and job seekers are encouraged to bring copies of their resumé. The list of organizations slated to come includes Achieve, CDO Workforce, Chase Memorial Nursing Home and Rehab, Chenango County, City of Norwich, DCMO BOCES, GE Aviation, Hospice and Palliative Care of Chenango County, NBT Bank/NBT Insurance, NYCM Insurance, NYS Department of Corrections, NYS Veterans’ Home at Oxford, Preferred Mutual, Raymond Corporation, Springbrook, Staffworks, UHS Hospitals and Valley View Manor.

Lindsey Lefevre, director of Morrisville’s Norwich campus, says, “We are excited to once again to be the host site for the job fair and welcome all community members to come speak with the employers in attendance. Our students also get a chance to speak with local employers to connect their degree programs to career opportunities in our region so they understand what the possibilities are after graduation. This is a valuable event for everyone involved and we hope to continue this networking opportunity for many years to come.”

This event brings job seekers from the community to explore career opportunities in and around Chenango County. Attendees will be able to talk one-on-one with representatives of corporate, small business, government, and non-profit organizations. Students will be attending and will be able to fulfill their career exploration requirements. For more information, visit Tinyurl.com/commjobfair.
