Norwich runners have fast performance at sectional championship meet
CHENANGO VALLEY – The Norwich Cross Country team concluded their season at the Section IV Class C Championship meet Thursday, November 7 at Chenango Valley State Park.
The Purple Tornado boys team had just four boys run, resulting in an incomplete team score but had some of the best finishes the team has had in a few years individually. The Lady Tornado runners raced five and came away with a ninth place team finish.
Out of 107 competitors in the boys Class C Championship field, Norwich had runners finish 15th, 22nd, 34th and 95th.
Makaio Sutton was the first Tornado to come across the finish line at 15th, running a time of 18:09.9. Stephen Kman was seven spots behind his teammate as the two were separated by 30 seconds.
Julian Roque was the next Norwich runner to finish the course, coming in at 19:19.7 and 34th overall. The final Tornado to finish was the youngster of the team, Zander Sutton. The freshman ran a time of 22:46.6.
All four runners return next year as Roque is a junior while Sutton and Kman are sophomores.
