NORWICH – At noon on Thanksgiving Day the Emmanuel Episcopal Church will be serving the annual Thanksgiving Dinner at the Emmanuel Parrish Hall.

These turkey dinners can be enjoyed by eating in, ordering out, or having them delivered. Deliveries begin at 10:30 a.m., take out is available for pick up between 11:15 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. and the sit down dinner at noon.

For delivery or take-out reservations, call 607-334-8801 by Nov. 26, 2019 by 1 p.m. or email the church at emmanuelchurch@frontiernet.net.

The community dinner was started over 15 years ago by church member Charlie McMullen, and is sustained by the Outreach Commission Group of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church. The Outreach Commission coordinates and hosts various dinners for the Emmanuel Episcopal Church.

However, it takes an entire community coming together to serve an average of 500 people a year.
Tim Thompson and the Ontario staff in Norwich prepare all of the turkey and sides for the event.

“Without the Ontario, it would be very difficult to do this dinner, without certain people and organizations in this community, we wouldn't have these kinds of events” said Gary Brookins, member of the outreach commission.

Volunteers from Frontier Communications and the community assist with delivering dinners to local families. John Klockowski, a regular volunteer for the event, oversees the dinner rush and brings his own crew to run the kitchen and make sure dinner is served smoothly. The Thanksgiving Dinner is also sponsored every year by the Brisson Macksey Charitable Trust.

Brookins mentioned that they still need volunteers to help with the tear down and clean up from the event.

“The people who work at it enjoy it a lot,” said Brookins. “We want as many people to have as nice a thanksgiving as possible, some people would not have a thanksgiving at all without this dinner.”

If you are interested in volunteering, call 607-334-8801 by November 26th.
