CHENANGO COUNTY – According to Chenango officials the county has received approximately three to five inches of snow with a few more inches of precipitation expected throughout today.
According to Chenango County Emergency Operations Center Manager A. Wesley Jones, the snow is expected to taper off around 4 p.m. today at around seven inches total, with the possibility of dangerous snow squalls late tomorrow morning.
“It’s unfolding as we expected, the snow will start to taper off as we go through the day today,” said Jones. “The roads are in pretty good shape, and there have only been a couple of accidents today.”
He said tomorrow’s snow squalls will develop from the morning into the early afternoon.
“They could produce some brief whiteout conditions, and depending on the intensity the squalls could be quite dangerous for short periods of time,” he added.
Several school districts are closed in Chenango County for today including the: Norwich City School District, Greene Central School District, Bainbridge-Guilford Central School District, Afton Central School District, and the Oxford Central School District.
