Three facing felony indictments
NORWICH – A Chenango County Grand Jury indicted three people for felony crimes including assault on a police officer, credit card thefts, and for fleeing officers.
Michael P. Piliero was indicted for second-degree assault, a class D felony, second-degree attempted escape, a class A misdemeanor, and resisting arrest, a class A misdemeanor.
According to the indictment, at approximately 1:40 p.m. on November 13, at the City of Norwich Police Department Piliero intentionally caused physical injury to a Norwich City Police Officer while resisting arrest and attempting to escape from custody.
The indictment states that Piliero struck the officer, “...on the top of the head and face, causing a cut to the top of his head and a bloody nose.”
The indictment adds that Piliero also attempted to, “...open the number keypad on the west door of the booking room and attempted to run towards the south door of the detention facility.”
Christine A. Furgison was indicted on two counts of second-degree burglary, class C felonies, and one count of third-degree grand larceny, a class D felony.
On October 26 at an apartment complex on West Main Street in the City of Norwich, Furgison allegedly entered another person’s dwelling and stole a Capital One credit card, a Discover credit card, a black Verizon cell phone, prescription medication, keys to a 2006 Pontiac Vibe, and $300 of United States currency from within.
On October 29 in the Town of Guilford Furgison also allegedly entered a dwelling and stole jewelry and clothing.
Christopher M. Lacroce was indicted on first-degree reckless endangerment, a class D felony, and third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, a class A misdemeanor.
According to his indictment, at approximately 10:20 a.m. on October 4 in the Town of North Norwich, Lacroce recklessly operated a motor vehicle in excess of 80 miles per hour, passing vehicles unsafely, running numerous vehicles off of the roadway, and caused a personal injury accident.
The indictment states that Lacroce failed to comply with a lawful order and stop the vehicle he was operating, a 2003 Chevrolet, after a Chenango County Sheriff’s Deputy activated the emergency overhead lights and siren on their marked police vehicle.
It adds that Lacroce was observed driving in excess of 80 miles per hour in a lawfully posted 55 mile per hour zone.
