Barry, Trojans use big first half to capture MAC win over Sidney Warriors

B-G tops Afton; Bulldogs weather the Storm

SIDNEY – For the second straight game, Nate Barry recorded 20-plus points to lead the Trojans to a conference win. In Thursday’s victory came over the Sidney Warriors as Barry finished with a game-high 20 in the 55-43 final.
Greene held a 28-12 lead at halftime, helping hold on for the 13-point win. Sidney did make an offensive push in the second half, outscoring the visiting Trojans 30-27, but a slow offensive start by the hosts was too much to overcome.
Jon Palmatier led Sidney with 16 points while the team also received 11 points from Devon Chabot. Liam Matthews added nine in the loss.
Greene also picked up double digits in the scoring column from Nate Parker with 12 points and Evan Walters, who tallied 10. Trent Rapp kicked in eight for the Trojans.
Greene travels to Norwich on Saturday for an inter-county match up that was scheduled to start the season but was postponed due to the weather. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:45 p.m.

Bainbridge-Guilford 64, Afton 32
BAINBRIDGE – The host Bobcats jumped out to a 22-2 lead after the first quarter and didn’t look back as Bainbridge-Guilford topped the Afton Crimson Knights 64-32 Thursday.
In the opening stanza, Haiden Burns of B-G tallied 11 of his game-high 18 points to pace the Bobcats early game success.
B-G continued to push the lead, going into the locker room at halftime leading 34-11 but Afton found an offensive rhythm in the second half to score 21 points as a team.
Despite the loss, Afton received balanced scoring as all but two players registered points in the scorebook. Collin Sadler led the Crimson Knights with eight while Equan Patterson kicked in seven.
Also having a large part of the first quarter strike was Trent Thornton, scoring seven points. Thornton finished with 11.
Bainbridge-Guilford travels to Sherburne-Earlville for a non-league contest within Chenango County. Game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start on Friday.
Afton’s next game is on the road against Delhi Wednesday at 7:15 p.m.
Delhi 76, Unadilla Valley 45
NEW BERLIN – Delhi traveled to Unadilla Valley Thursday night for a Midstate Athletic Conference contest and cruised home with a 31-point victory, weathering the Storm 76-45.
The Bulldogs’ Alex Haight registered a game-high 22 points, converting nine of his shots taking from the floor while also going 4-for-5 at the foul line.
The contest was separated by just 12 points heading into the fourth quarter but the Storm’s offense stalled, scoring just three points in the stanza. Delhi continued their high-powered offense in the eight minute span to record their second 20-plus point quarter of the game.
The Bulldogs opened up the game with 23 points and ended with 22 while Unadilla Valley won the two middle quarters by outscoring the visitors 33-31.
UV’s Caleb Parker finished the game with a team-best 15 points. Teammate Brock Davis chipped in nine points for the Storm while Joe Ray added seven.
Unadilla Valley (2-8, 1-3) will look to rebound on Tuesday against Walton at 7 p.m.
