Police end pursuit with tire spikes, two suspects from Norwich detained

NORWICH – Two people from the Norwich area may be facing charges after failing to pull over for police Thursday, and allegedly committing a spate of felonies.


Tami Gray, 31, was charged with two counts of second-degree robbery, second-degree menacing, second-degree reckless endangerment, and second-degree burglary.


Another possible suspect is being held at the Wilson Hospital in Binghamton and has not yet been named. State troopers said the suspect will be turned over to law enforcement when he is released from the hospital and likely charged.


The pursuit began in the City of Norwich and traveled through Chenango and Broome counties, that ended when police successful deployed a tire deflation device across the roadway.

According to New York State Police Public Information Officer Aga Dembinska, the incident began yesterday afternoon in the City of Norwich with a failure to comply.


Police called off the chase early Thursday but resumed a search and relocated the vehicle, beginning a second pursuit after information was received linking the vehicle to a series of crimes, including robbery and burglary.
