Lady Storm skid continues after loss to Hornets

HAPRURSVILLE – The Lady Storm dropped their fifth straight game Tuesday night as the host Harpursville Hornets earned the 44-41 win.

Ghia and Saleen Medovich led the way for the Hornets, scoring 10 and 11 points to pace the home in the win. Teammate Chelsea Merrill added eight as Harpursville had a good shooting night stated UV’s head coach Brandi Whitbeck.

Whitbeck’s team, on the other hand, did not. Along with losing one of the Storm’s starters at the start of the second quarter, Unadilla Valley’s offensive presence slightly stalled as the team registered just nine points in the stanza.

UV held a 12-9 lead after the first but with their rough shooting night, Harpursville took the lead heading into the locker room at the break. Merrill hit a halftime buzzer beater to give the Hornets the two point advantage.

The Storm pulled within one point at the end of the third with Meegan White’s two quarter ending free throws to set up an exciting final eight minutes of play between the two teams.
