“It continues to be the goal of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association to host the Winter Championships with direction from the New York State Department of Health, local county health departments and Governor Cuomo’s office,” Dr. Robert Zayas, the NYSPHSAA Executive Director said in the statement. “At this time, we are moving forward with the championships, however the impact of the coronavirus could necessitate revisions to the championship schedule.”

As a result of the COVID-19 (or the coronavirus), a Class AA sub-regional contest between Monroe-Woodbury and Ursuline that was scheduled for Wednesday night was postponed until further notice. Dr. Zayas made the call to delay the game and has yet to release a make-up date as it is pending the official guidance from the NYS Department of Health, Orange County Health Department and Westchester County Department of Health.
