City of Norwich approves repairs to city streets and community tennis court
NORWICH – The City of Norwich Common Council approved the Department of Public Works to move ahead on a bid for repairing five streets in Norwich.
According to DPW Superintendent Edward Pepe, the city received three bids for the repairs. Pepe recommended the city go with the lowest bid, which was $125,800.35.
The winning bid came in from Lancaster, the same company that owns Chenango Asphalt.
“Our budget is $252,000,” said Pepe. “We have 67 man holes 73 catch basins on Canasawacta, Cortland, Miller, Newton and Pleasant street. A majority of them are needing to be rebuilt.”
Pepe said they've already started working on the repairing the manholes and catch basins.
“We've already started working on it because were short staff. We're trying our best to get a jump on the work so we've already gotten into it. We want to be done by the end of July,” he said.
