Man faces numerous felony charges following alleged crime spree
SHERBURNE - According to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office, Garett A. Hunter, was arrested on Friday morning after he burglarized several businesses, stole a loaded handgun, and broke into a victim’s home.
Hunter, 31, homeless, was charged with several felonies..
They included two counts of third-degree burglary, one count of first-degree burglary, one count of second-degree criminal contempt, one count of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, fourth-degree grand larceny, third-degree criminal mischief, and petit larceny.
Chenango County Sheriff Ernest Cutting reported that Hunter was arrested following an incident that began in the evening of June 18 and continued on into the morning of June 19.
“Mr. Hunter broke into the Mirabito Gas Station in the Village of Sherburne on two separate occasions,” said Cutting. “He stole a loaded handgun from inside of a vehicle in the Village of Sherburne, and then broke into a victim’s residence in the Town of Smyrna.”
