Arrangements will be made for the winner to come to Rogers Center to pick up the prize of the 2015 Tesla Model S on a future date.
The Electric Car Raffle was a new fundraiser for Friends of Rogers and features a prize of a 2015 Tesla Model S, ($35,000) ARV. The staff is pleased with the number of tickets sold and the number of people they were able to educate about the electric vehicle.
Heather Tehan, Director of Development, said “I enjoyed showing the car to folks that had not seen a fully electric vehicle before. They look for the engine, but all that is under the hood is the front trunk.”  She went on to say, “People have so many questions, and it was great to answer them and discuss the luxury features you get while saving money driving the car.”
Friends of Rogers also held an Electric Car Show on October 4, 2020 and sold more tickets for the Tesla at that event than any other attended this year. Guests and car owners all wore masks and practiced social distancing. Simon Solomon, Executive Director said “It was amazing to see 20 plus electric cars here and watch the owners summon Tesla models with the phone app and show off features of Chevy Volt and Bolt.  The people that attended were able to speak with the owners and ask questions about their personal experience driving electric vehicles. This greatly impacted our raffle sales at the event and helped us with EV education that day.”
All proceeds of the Electric Car Raffle benefits Friends of Rogers Environmental Education Center, a nonprofit organization.
