City of Norwich announces trick-or-treating is on

NORWICH – The City of Norwich has announced that trick-or-treating will take place next weekend, and has a number of safety tips to celebrate Halloween safely.

According to a statement from City of Norwich representatives, trick-or-treating will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 31 in the city.

The announcement comes after New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo said he wouldn’t ban trick-or-treating this year in a press conference last month.

“I would not ban trick-or-treaters going door to door. I don't think that's appropriate. You have neighbors - if you want to go knock on your neighbor's door, God bless you and I'm not going to tell you not to,” said Cuomo. “If you want to go for a walk with your child through the neighborhood, I'm not gonna tell you can't take your child to the neighborhood, I'm not going to do that - I'll give you my advice and guidance and then you will make a decision what you do that night.”
