Chobani thanks local community during holiday season
NORWICH – In continued appreciation of its hometown, especially during this challenging year, Chobani hosted its 6th Annual Community Giveaway at the Chenango County Fairgrounds on Dec. 5.
The drive-thru-only event requested all attendees wear masks and handed out free yogurt to hundreds of residents.
“For the past six years, Chobani has sought to thank the local community we call home by handing out free cases of yogurt at the end of the Parade of Lights in Norwich. However this year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Parade of Lights was cancelled,” Chobani Community Engagement Manger Don Brown explained.
“We decided to instead to provide a safe and socially distanced environment by creating a drive-thru event at the Fairgrounds. The goal was to share our delicious and nutritious foods with our neighbors, thanking them for their support and adhering to our mission to provide better food for more people.”
More than 15 volunteers from Chobani worked at the event, setting up, unloading yogurt and assisting with traffic flow. More than 500 vehicles stopped at the Chobani trailer during the two hour event.
