NORWICH – Star Nails in the Town of Norwich caught fire on Sunday night and officials said they are investigating it as an electrical fire.

According to City of Norwich Fire Department Chief Jan Papelino, a 911 call was received at 9:22 p.m. Sunday night at Star Salon. The business was located on NY-12 in the Town of Norwich, next to Burger King.

“Fortunately there's a hydrant located right between Star Salon and Burger King which made for an easy hand lay for supply lines,” said Papelino. “There was quite a bit of smoke coming from the ease when we got there.”

Papelino said it took firefighters approximately four minutes to arrive on scene, and upon arrival responders started to put out the fire after entering through the front door.

“When they got inside they saw the fire was pretty well contained to one room,” Papelino added. “There was a clear v-shaped pattern from an outlet, which implies that it was an electrical fire.”
