NEW BERLIN - Precision, Patience and Poise. All three skills are necessary to create the perfect bowling technique. From the initial arm-swing all the way to the final release, so much depends on the rhythm and mental fortitude of the bowler. These qualities are exactly Unadilla Valley senior Gracie Oglesby put on display in the Storm’s Friday February 12th win over conference foe Afton-Harpursville.
In Oglesby’s third game of her afternoon series her game was clean- bowling a perfect score of 300- finishing her series with a team high score of 627.
“She threw 11 beautiful balls” said UV Head Coach Matt Bleyle, “I was very excited for her.”
In recent weeks, Oglesby- a fourth year bowler for the Storm- had taken time to improve her game; working with her coaches to make the calculated adjustments needed to take her game to the next level. According to her Bleyle, all Gracie had to do was make “a little adjustment and she has just took off.” This special moment in Gracie’s senior season has been made much more enjoyable as both her and her teammates are at the height of their bowling prowess- standing in first place in the Mid-State Athletic Conference rankings.
Rounding out the rest of the UV girls- Pyper Kneal bowled a series score of 559, Phalin Hill bowled a series of 149, Brynn Grant bowled a series score of 535, and Paige Calena finished her series with a score of 511.
On the UV boy’s side of the lane, Jacob Prentice bowled a series of 149, Will Rumouicz bowled a series score of 380, Devin Fairchild bowled a series of 645, Brandon Kneale finished his series in a score of 574, and Colin Grant finished with the highest series score for the boys with a 649. The Unadilla Valley boys bowlers have also found their way atop the Mid-State Athletic Conference rankings, with the goal of keeping their first place standing by the end of their season.
