Norwich Swimmers compete at Section IV Class B Championships
NORWICH – The Norwich Boys Varsity Swim Team completed their short eight week season scoring 109.5 points to place 7th at the Section 4 Class B Championship this past Friday February 26th. Norwich had 11 personal best times during the meet.
Kicking off the Tornado was team captain Ryan Loeffler as he recorded personal bests in the 200yd IM for 9th place timing 2:22.78 and then finishing in 1:14.09 for 12th place in the 100yd breast stroke.
Ethan Guzewich placed 15th with a time of 2:20.89 in the 200 free, following up with a personal best of 100.59 in the 100yd freestyle for 16th. Gabriel Sutton tied for 14th in the 50yd freestyle, timing 26.10. Jonathan Ryan finished 9th in the 100yd Butterfly with a time of 1:11.93 and a 9th in the 100yd backstroke with a 1:09.57 personal best. Anthony Pomares was 16th in the 100yd Breaststroke with a 1:20.70 personal best.
Other Norwich swimmers claiming personal bests during the meet but not scoring individual points were Josiah Tyler in the 50yd freestyle with a 27.11. Andrew Meccariello had personal bests in the 50yd freestyle in a time of 32.68 and in the 100yd feestyle swam to a 1:16.90 finish.
The Purple Tornado relay teams did well posting their fastest times of the eight week season. The 200yd Medley Relay team of Jonathan Ryan, Ryan Loeffler, Josiah Tyler and Gabriel Sutton swam to a 5th place finish with a time of 2:00.20 on the team were Jonathan Ryan,
The 200yd Freestyle Relay finished 8th in a time of 2:00.51 on the team was Anthony Pomares, Andrew Meccariello, Ethan Guzewich and Gabriel Sutton.
Capping off the class championship meet was the 400yd Freestyle Relay team of Josiah Tyler, Ethan Guzewich, Gabriel Sutton and Jonathan Ryan dropped 12 seconds off their previous best time of the season as they placed 6th finishing in a time of 4:04.86.
