Greene records third straight shutout

BOYS' SOCCER

GREENE – Since its opening-game loss last week, Greene's boys' soccer team has paired outstanding offense with lockdown defense.
The Trojans (3-1) won their third straight game Thursday night, and recorded a third straight shutout as well blanking Susquehanna Valley, 3-0.
Greene mustered 28 shots on the evening, and finished with a 28-6 advantage in that statistic.
Terriek Brown scored the opener in the first half getting an assist from Scout McCumiskey, and Luke DeJager added an unassisted goal to open a 2-0 halftime lead.
"It was a great team win," said Greene coach Rick Tallman. "The boys played unified, and with passion."
In the 26th minute of the second half, Greene took advantage of a Sabers foul in the 18-yard box earning a penalty kick.
Jonny Lee found the mark on the penalty kick to complete Greene's offense.
Despite that significant offensive advantage, Tallman did note two standout plays on the defensive side that preserved the shutout.
"Kolby Finch (goalie) had a great save, and Jonah Browning kicked the ball off the goal line to keep a clean sheet for us," Tallman said.
Greene returns to action Tuesday, March 30 when it hosts Walton.
