Purple Tornado blow away Blue Devils

BINGHAMTON – Norwich took no time rebounding from their loss earlier this week against the Owego Indians as the girls in Purple made it a clean sweep on Thursday March 25th as they blew past the Blue Devils of Chenango Forks in straight sets 25-22, 25-21 and 25-16.
Norwich held their own against the Blue Devils who rallied in the first and second games to close the gap on the Tornado. “It took the team some time to pull things together, but they managed…so fun to watch the girls when they are clicking together” said Norwich Head Coach Shelly Alger on her team’s performance.
Among the statistical leaders for the Purple who left their impact on the floor were the usual suspects; Maddy Morris and Lauren Squires.
“Maddy Morris and Lauren Squires were on fire together” said Alger.
Morris accumulated a whopping 27 assists on the night as she distributed the ball to her Tornado teammates, and Squires provided some much needed fire power for Norwich as she amassed 19 kills.
The Purple Tornado (4-1) have some practice time over the next few days before heading back to the floor against the Vestal Golden Bears at 6:00pm on Tuesday March 30th

NEW BERLIN – The Unadilla Valley Storm swept the Sidney Warriors in straight sets 25-10, 25-2, 25-5 on Tuesday March 23rd. The Storm gave the Warriors little breathing room as UV jumped out to a large lead in each game due to their team’s balanced play.
Leah Gorrell led the charge for the Storm with her superb serving performance as she delivered with 15 aces on the night. Hudson Lyons and Maddi Sayles also got in on the serving action for UV as Lyons contributed seven aces and Sayles added five aces of her own.
Unadilla Valley (2-1) returns to the court tonight when they travel to take on Deposit/Hancock with game time slated for 6:00pm.
