Overtime goal gives Oxford girls' soccer first win
OXFORD - Oxford combined good defense with timely offense, and picked up its first win of the season beating Sidney 2-1 in overtime Wednesday.
"Our offense was able to work the ball around outside tonight," said Oxford coach Sierra Badger. "Taylor Smith did a great job of being versatile, and getting the ball to the corner to cross it."
The winning goal in extra minutes came with 7:10 left in the first overtime period.
From the defensive end, Jillian Finch allowed Oxford to switch fields quickly with a long kick that eventually found Hailey Fleury for the game-winner.

Afton-Harpursville 1, Greene 0
GREENE - Afton-Harpursville clamped down on the defensive end, and avenged last week's shutout loss to Greene picking up a 1-0 win on Wednesday afternoon.
Unlike the first meeting where Greene was able to reach double-digit shots on goal, the Bears contained the Trojans' offense limiting the Trojans to just four shots for the game.
Afton-Harpursville didn't have many opportunities to score, but did cash in on one of its two shots.
Just two minutes and 43 seconds into the fourth quarter, Alexis Schultz scored unassisted for the game's lone tally.
