Boys’ Soccer: Unadilla Valley wins on back-to-back days
NEW BERLIN - Unadilla Valley combined strong offense with stingy defense, and recorded its second win in as many days blanking Walton, 4-0, on Tuesday.
Trason Murray scored his first varsity goal to open UV’s scoring 14 minutes into the contest, and freshman Trevor Smith made it a two-goal halftime lead tallying in the 28th minute.
“We played well offensively and defensively,” said UV-GMU coach Matt Osborne. “We had some younger guys score. we shared the ball and played unselfish soccer. One of our goals at halftime was to complete the shutout, and we attained that by being in position to help on defense.”
Devon Fairchild scored from closer range six minutes into the second half, and Zach Fleming headed in a 30-yard free kick from Cameron Osborne to complete UV-GMU’s scoring.
Gavin Bonczkowski made five saves in goal for the winners to earn the shutout.

SOUTH OTSELIC - Two days after playing 100 minutes of scoreless soccer, Stockbridge Valley ended the stalemate after another 40-plus minutes picking up three second-half goals in a 3-0 win over OV on Monday.
OV, again played without starting sweeper Lane Adams, and played short-handed a second straight game.
“We gave it all we had, even though we were down a player,” said OV coach Jacob Preston.
Evan Baker, Daren Grabow, and Tyler Fisher all scored for Stockbridge in the second half.
Gavin Hazzard made eight saves in goal for the Vikings.
