Volleyball: Oxford serves up win over Afton-Harpursville
OXFORD - Oxford’s Fall 2 season record improved to 6-1 overall after taking three sets from Afton-Harpursville, 25-11, 25-15, and 25-12 on Tuesday night.
“The girls had some really impressive plays tonight, and their serves were really on,” said Oxford coach Kim Martin. “Our team captains provided some consistent serves with Lilie Horton giving eight in the first set, seven in the second, and Karissa Maricle giving five consecutive serves in the third.”
Martin also singled out the fine serving of Jadyn Ruff, who served six straight points in the second set, and Hailey Richardson, who chalked up five straight service points in the third.
Horton led Oxford (6-1) with four service aces, Madalyn Barrows and Maddy Howe each put away four kills, and Mallory Olsen-Nichols had 12 assists to go with four kills.
Oxford hosts Unadilla Valley on Wednesday.

GREENE - On Monday night, Unadilla Valley’s volleyball team raised its mark to 3-2 on the season taking three sets from Greene, 25-13, 25-10, 25-15.
Leah Gorrell had five aces for Unadilla Valley, while Hudson Lyons, Gabby Cummings, and Kate Conway all served four aces apiece.
Shelby Holt finished with four aces and two assists for Greene (1-5).

GREENE - After Greene tied the match in the second set, Walton went on the capture the final two picking up a 25-13, 23-25, 25-11, 25-21 victory over the Trojans on Tuesday night.
“It was an exciting evening,” said Greene coach Shelbe Furman. “Lots of volleys, hustle, and aggressive serving. Both teams showed a lot of heart tonight, but Walton won out.”
The Trojans’ Shelbe Holt and Mackenzie Ingraham shared the team lead with six kills apiece. Penelope Antizzo filled the stat sheet for Greene (1-6) serving three aces, but also notching two assists, and seven digs.
