Boys soccer: Otselic Valley wins in overtime

SOUTH OTSELIC - Otselic Valley rallied from a two-goal halftime deficit to force overtime, and picked up a 3-2 OT victory on Wednesday afternoon.
“It was a tale of two halves,” said OV coach Jake Preston. “Madison was the more aggressive team in the first half. Once again, we had no subs, but we slowly gained momentum in the second half.”
OV forced a penalty kick when Garrett Wood was tripped in the box. Wood made good on the first of his three goals paring the deficit to one.
With six minutes remaining, Wood put away a crossing pass from Jake Hackett to tie the game.
Madison had the early advantage in overtime, but OV quickly countered, and a sliding tackle of Wood in the penalty box led to the winning penalty kick.

Hamilton 5, Sherburne-Earlville 1
SHERBURNE - Sherburne-Earlville made strides from its 7-0 loss to Hamilton earlier this season, but still fell to the Emerald Knights in decisive fashion on Tuesday.
In the opening meeting, Hamilton scored three goals in the first 10 minutes to take command.  S-E head coach, Mike Rodriguez, said the team’s first goal was to not allow a Hamilton goal in the opening 10.
Hamilton did score in the eighth minute, but it was a big improvement over the initial meeting.
“ Certainly not ideal, but a step in the right direction,” Rodriguez said.  “We gave up one goal rather than three.”
Jimmy Daddio had two goals for Hamilton, and Zach Bernard finished with one goal and two assists.
S-E’s Brogan Winton scored for the second straight game putting his team on the board in the second half.
