Police seek man involved in assault at local hotel

NORWICH – The New York State Police are still seeking the individual who assaulted two others with a sharp object on Wednesday, following a domestic dispute at Fred’s Inn in the Town of Norwich.
Police reported Wednesday, they are seeking a person of interest in the case for questioning.
According to Troop C Public Information Officer Aga Dembinska, at 10 a.m. on April 14 the New York State Police at Norwich were dispatched to a reported domestic related incident involving three people at Fred's Inn in the Town of Norwich.
“An investigation at the scene revealed that two people were assaulted with a sharp object resulting in minor injuries,” said Dembinska. “Both were taken to Chenango Memorial Hospital by Norwich Fire ambulance and have since been treated and released.”
“The investigation is on-going and appears to be an isolated incident.”
She said at this time law enforcement hope to talk to Jose I. Gonzalez, 53, of Norwich in relation to the event.
Dembinska said the weapon used in this incident has not yet been located or identified.
She declined to provide more information on Gonzalez’s relationship to the victims at this time.
“We don’t typically release the name and sex of the victims,” she added. “Any identifying detail of a victim could make it easier to victimize them again.”
She said more information will be released on this case when it becomes available.
