Norwich XC defeats Sidney on senior night

NORWICH – Purple Tornado senior Julian Roque tore up the course at Norwich High School on Tuesday April 20th as he finished in first place in the boys varsity race, running a scorching fast time of 17:20 over the flat 5K course as NHS dispatched Sidney 25-30.

“Julian (Roque) had a nice win” said Norwich Head Coach Shaun Horan, “He was by himself the whole time and he just pushed the entire time, he had a great race- a really strong race.”

Finishing right behind Roque in second place was his junior teammate Makaio Sutton who finished in a time of 18:07. Zander Sutton and Norwich senior Andrew Meccariello finished ninth and tenth respectively with Sutton timing 20:35 and Meccariello, the quintessential consistent finisher for the Norwich XC team all season long finished with a time of 20:41. Rounding out the scoring for Norwich was rookie cross-country runner, Tornado senior Nick Oieady who placed 17th in a time of 27:45.
