Learn more about county history and environment
CHENANGO COUNTY – Thanks to a partnership with DCMO BOCES along with a number of other community partners, the Otselic Valley Fishing and Heritage Association will be able to present its 12th Annual Fishing and Heritage Day in early May.
According to Fishing and Heritage Day Event Coordinator Michael Foor-Pessin, the event will premiere at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 15, online at ovfish.org.
“This event really is going to be one of a kind,” said Foor-Pessin. “We will cover everything from local history to environmental issues, and there will be an emphasis on careers with the DEC as well.”
“We have 25 programs that will be available for people to watch at their leisure with subjects including fly fishing, the eugenics movement in the 1930’s, Grace Brown, and more.”
Foor-Pessin said working with Martha Ryan at BOCES has been incredibly beneficial, especially in regards to media design. He said the event involves a number of other local individuals as well.
He added that while the COVID-19 pandemic has pushed this event to be virtual rather than in person, there are some benefits that are included with that medium.
“The neat thing about the program is that you can watch anything you want, so once it’s up on our website you can access those programs,” said Foor-Pessin.
Foor-Pessin said more information will be released as we get closer to the event date.
