Hitting the Links: Windsor defeats Norwich in first match of season

WINDSOR – Course conditions were subprime for the Norwich varsity golf team’s opening match of the season on Friday April 30th, as they traveled to Windsor’s Golden Oak Golf course. Fighting through the cold and rainy condtions the Purple Tornado linksters lost a 179-204 decision to the host Black Knights.
Norwich senior Max Marson was the medalist for the Purple Tornado as he shot a 35 on the par 34 golf course. Jacob Morris had the next best score for Norwich with a 38, and Aiden Stafford chipped in a score of 40. Jacob Dowdall scored 42 and teammates Cooper Burton and Logan Waters rounded out the scoring with Burton shooting a 49 and Waters scoring 51. Notably, Burton and Waters could only finish seven of the nine holes due to the poor course conditions brought on by the inclement weather.
For Windsor, Zach Vaselick shot a 31, Jarrett Daniels shot a 34, Gaven Lang shot a 35, Andrew Munson scored 42, Carmine Dozoretz shot 37 and Jacob Rollo finished seven of the nine holes with a score of 51. Rollo was limited to playing seven of the nine holes as course conditions forced an end of play.
The Purple Tornado will seek to avenge their loss in Friday’s matchup as NHS will host the Black Knights at the Canasawacta Country Club today, May 4th, with the match slated to start at 4:30 p.m.
