Monday Evening Musical Club Awards scholarship, holds virtual concert

CHENANGO COUNTY – The Monday Evening Musical Club presents its Scholarship Winners and Advanced Students virtual concert at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 10.

Natalie Barrows, our 2021 scholarship winner, is a Senior at Oxford Academy. She will sing Voi Che Sapete, from Mozart's "Le Nozze di Figaro." Natalie is a voice student of Meena Conant.
In addition to being named Valedictorian of her class, Natalie has been a leader in her HS chorus, as well as a versatile actor and singer in roles in Oxford's productions of "Barnum" and "Into the Woods." She has also been active in her school's fall plays, as well as community and extracurricular musical activities.
Natalie is a member of the National Honor Society, 4-H, Student Government, and Oxford's Tennis, Golf and Basketball teams. The Monday Evening Musical Club is proud to award Natalie Barrows its scholarship as she continues her studies in Musical Theater.
Several former scholarship winners and advanced music students will also be featured on the program.
2020 Scholarship winner Aria Maholchic, a student at Webster Conservatory of Music in St. Louis, will sing I Dont' Need a Roof from "Big Fish" and Like Love, from "Charlie Girl."
Saxophonist Rachel Perry, 2007 scholarship winner, will perform Caprice en Forme di Valse, by Paul Bonneau.
Current Norwich High School students will be performing, including Leona Tyler, singing Amarilli Mia Bella by Giulio Caccini; Elspeth Hunter, singing Vedrai Carino, from Mozart's "Don Giovanni"; River Rivenburg, playing 2 selections on the piano from Robert Schumann's "Scenes From Childhood"; Emily Spence, singing O Mio Babbino Caro, from Puccini's "Gianni Schicchi"; and Nicholas Deady, violinist, playing the 1st movement of Edouard Lalo's Symphonie Espagnole, accompanied by Anita Humer.
Aoife Douglas of Hamilton Central School will perform I've Got You Under my Skin, by Cole Porter.
Please join us for this virtual concert, featuring talented, hardworking musicians from Chenango County.
The Monday Evening Musical Club has awarded scholarships to HS Seniors pursuing music since 1954; our scholarship funds are supported by the generous donations of this community. We will provide both a PayPal, and mailing address option for donations during this concert, and thank our audience in advance for their support. All donations go directly into our scholarship fund, and MEMC is a 501(c)3 organization.
