Sheriff: Man found with $100,000-plus worth of drugs in Greene

GREENE – The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office has seized more than $100,000 worth of drugs following a welfare check on a man reported to be slumped over his steering wheel in the Village of Greene.


According to Chenango County Sheriff Ernest Cutting, in the early morning hours of May 16, 2021, Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to the Mirabito gas station in the Village of Greene for a welfare check.


Cutting said upon arrival, deputies located Phillip S. Cosilmon slumped over the steering wheel of his vehicle. He said upon further investigation, a large quantity of drugs along with $22,000 in cash was located in the vehicle.


Cosilmon, 31, of Smithville was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A felony.
