UV/G-MU girls beat Sidney track team
NEW BERLIN - Unadilla Valley-GMU’s girls’ track team won nine of 13 contested events, and cruised to a 75-30 victory over visiting Sidney on Wednesday.
On the boys’ side, the Warriors captured a narrow victory defeating UV-GMU, 72-62.
Kadence York, Gracie Gorrell, and Mya Farwell all had big days in UV-GMU’s winning effort.
Gorrell swept the 200- and 400-meter dash races, while also lending a leg to the winning 400- and 1,600-meter relays giving her four total first-place finishes.
York, meanwhile, took the 800- and 1,500-meter races, and added a leg to the first-place 1,600-meter relay.
Farwell shone in the field events. She won the long jump with a leap of 13-4 1/4, and followed that up winning the triple jump with a distance of 30-8.
On the boys’ side, Ben Gorrell and Christian Stachura had a pair of first-place individual wins for UV/G-MU.
Gorrell claimed both hurdles races taking the 110- and 400-meter races, and Stachura doubled up in the 400- and 800-meter races.

GREENE - Unadilla Valley/G-MU’s golf team improved to 4-0 on the spring season beating Greene at Genegantslet Golf Club on Wednesday.
Brandon Kneale carved up the par-35 front nine earning overall medalist honors shooting a 3-over-par 38. Teammate Dominick Hartwell had the next-best score for UV/G-MU - and also the second-best in the match - adding a 43.
Greene (4-3) was led by Clayton Leonard’s 49.
UV/GMU faces Sidney on Friday.

First singles player Alex Haight headlined the Bulldogs’ performance with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over the Blackhawks’ John Rovente.
In the matchup of number one doubles players, Delhi’s Josh Baxter and Owen Haight outlasted Oxford’s Madalyn Barrows and Jocie Finch, 6-1, 6-4.
