BASEBALL: Norwich reaches STAC mini-tournament final

BINGHAMTON - At Conlon Field Monday night, Norwich extended its season in a four-team Southern Tier Athletic Conference mini-tournament.
Buoyed by back-to-back two-run innings in the third and fourth, Norwich eased to a 6-3 victory over Binghamton.
Jordan Jacquette pitched four innings for the victory striking out four and walking one. Keegan Franklin came on to pitch three scoreless innings of relief to pick up the save.
The tournament was constructed for teams that did not qualify for the Section IV baseball tournament, said Norwich coach Donny Lawrence.
Franklin also headed up Norwich's hitters with two hits, two runs scored, and an RBI. Mike Hagen was also credited with an RBI in the victory.
Norwich plays a team to be determined Friday at 5 p.m. in Binghamton.
