Police search for man who shot trooper

COLESVILLE – Law enforcement have been searching for a man who shot a New York State Trooper, and are warning that he is still considered armed and dangerous.


According to New York State Police Troop C Public Information Officer Aga Dembinska, at approximately 8:36 p.m. on June 9 Broome County Sheriff’s Deputies and members of the New York State Police responded to East Windsor Road in Colesville to check on the welfare of an individual.


Dembinska said Jason D. Johnson, age 34, shot one of the troopers who arrived on scene, and is currently on the run from law enforcement. She said the trooper’s gunshot wound appears to be non-life-threatening at this time, and the hunt for Johnson continues.

“He is 5’7” and approximately 160 pounds,” said Dembinska. “His hair is longer than pictured and in a long mohawk style.”
