Duke Robillard Band Steps in to NBT Summer Concert Series
NORWICH –The Chenango Blues Association is excited to announce that the Duke Robillard Band has graciously agreed to drive up from Rhode Island to play this Thursday’s NBT Summer Concert date in Norwich’s East Park. They replace Shinyribs who had to cancel due to illness in the band.
Duke Robillard has been nominated twice for Grammy Awards and has won many Blues Music Awards as Best Guitarist. The New York Times calls him “a soloist of stunning force and originality.” Duke’s playing moves stylistically from Texas to Kansas City to Chicago’s West Side, and he makes it look easy.
His most recent band has added a horn section, bringing him back to early in his career as the founder of Roomful of Blues. Since then, he has moved throughout the artistic world, from replacing Jimmie
Vaughan as guitarist in the Fabulous Thunderbirds to his current work as a producer, photographer,
painter and avid gardener.
“We are so excited to be able to bring in someone of Duke’s caliber on such short notice,” said Pat Dietrich, a Blues Association Board member. “It is great to have friends like him willing to go out of his way for us music fans.”
The show this Thursday will start at 7 p.m. as always, and food vendors will be on hand. So plan to
arrive early and have dinner before the show. The weather report is great so it should be a perfect
evening of music, food, friends and fun. For further information on the Summer Concert Series and the
upcoming 28th Chenango Blues Festival please visit www.chenangobluesfest.org
