Vollyball roundup: Unadilla Valley volleyball looks ahead
NEW BERLIN – A commitment to offseason practices and competitions has Unadilla Valley third-year volleyball coach, Amanda Paulson, looking forward to the 2021 season.
“I have a dedicated team of 10, many of whom played extensively over the summer,” Paulson said. “I am looking forward to seeing their dedication play out on the court.”
Little was lost to graduation last year, Paulson said, with only two seniors lost to graduation, and the majority of this year’s team coming off a season of varsity experience.
While many players are showing promise in the preseason, Paulson said it was hard to narrow down that list of promising players. She did say that returning junior, Kate Conway, should continue to lead the team in serves and assists.
“We often struggled with defensive passing and coverage,” Paulson said. “But that is something we’ve been focusing on throughout preseason. Our biggest strength is that we are focused and goal-oriented; the girls come to practice ready to work hard, and they also played a lot over the summer. They are very serious about this season It is super exciting.”
