Swimming roundup: Norwich swimmers upend Forks

NORWICH –The Norwich girls’ varsity swim team took care of business Tuesday night, taking down the Chenango Forks Blue Devils by a score of 94.50- 74.50 at Echentile pool.
Norwich’s Nina Kman, Tanner Olds, and Mikayla Sastri each recorded two individual victories in the Tornado victory. Kman claimed first placed finishes in the 100 yard freestyle, timing 59.63, and the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:31.49. Olds finished first in the 200 yard freestyle and the 100 yard butterfly, finishing with times of 2:21.75 and 1:28.20 respectively. Sastri earned her victories in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 29.45, and the 500 yard freestyle in a time of 6:21.19.
Rounding out the top individual finishers for the Tornado was Regan Finnegan in the 100 yard backstroke- timing 1:17.04.
Moving onto the relays, the team of Olds, Kman, Sastri and Adyson Whaley won the 200 yard freestyle in a time of 1:58.78. In the 200 yard medley relay, Norwich’s Eva Blenis, Megan Funk, Julia Llewellyn and Mikayla Sastri won the event in a time of 2:18.40.
The Purple Tornado (3-0) hit the pool again next Tuesday September 28th when they travel to Binghamton to take on the Chenango Valley Blue Warriors at 5:30pm.

Chenango Valley 117, Greene 41

GREENE - Chenango Valley maintained its unbeaten record using a deep roster to prevail over host Greene on Tuesday night.
Skyler Nowalk, one of two Greene seniors recognized before the meet, captured the Trojans' lone victory winning the 50-yard freestyle in 28.65 seconds. Nowalk also swam a personal-best in the 100-yard freestyle, said Greene coach M.K. Kelly.
Also adding season-best swims were Olivia Ketzak in the 200- and 500-yard freestyles; Madison Pavlovich in the 200 individual medley, and Alexis Clark in the 50-yard freestyle.
Ketzak, a senior, was recognized before the meet along with Nowalk.
