NORWICH — On Monday, October 18, at approximately 11:37 a.m., the City of Norwich Police Department concluded an investigation into the sale of narcotics in the City of Norwich. During this investigation, the narcotic drug being sold was Methamphetamine.
The Norwich Police Department arrested Gary N. Hackett Jr., age 49, of 32 Division Street, Norwich, NY. Hackett was charged with the following:
Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 5th - a class 'D' Felony.
Hackett was arraigned in Norwich City Court and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility without bail. Hackett is scheduled to reappear in City Court on Thursday, October 21 at 11 a.m.
"The changes with bail reform have made investigations into the sale of controlled substances more complicated," said Norwich Police Chief Rodney Marsh. "But even with those additional challenges, the Norwich Police will continue to investigate and arrest those individuals suspected of selling drugs in our community."
The Norwich Police Department asks that the community continue to call their Tips Line at (607) 334-TIPS (8477) and report suspected drug activity in their neighborhoods.
