BASEBALL: Greene/Oxford advances vs Norwich

NORWICH– In the first round of Sectionals, the Norwich Purple Tornado baseball team hosted Greene/Oxford, where the Trojans won 13-4 on Friday afternoon.

Norwich scored its only runs in the first inning against Greene’s Nolan Dodzweits. The bases were loaded after Torin Lawrence and Mike Hagen both walked and Zack Parker came on with a single, Nick Ragonese knocked in a run with a single to right field. Keegan Franklin cleared the bases with a triple.

Parker finished 3-for-4 with all singles while Hagen, Ragonese, and Franklin each had two hits and Gehrig Sastri contributed with a single in the third inning.

On the mound, Franklin struck out five batters in the loss.

For Greene/Oxford, Dodzweits led the team with three hits and five RBIs while teammates Grayson Flanagan and Trenton Rapp racked up multiple hits. Dodzweits struck out six batters in his six innings of work.

Greene/Oxford advances to play Windsor this afternoon (Monday) at 4:30 p.m. Congratulations to Norwich on a good season.
