BASEBALL: Afton advances to the Class D semi-finals

AFTON– The Afton Crimson Knights baseball team held on to a 7-4 lead over Charlotte Valley to advance to the Section IV Class D semi-finals.
Afton scored four runs in the first, two in the fourth and one run in the fifth inning while CV threatened in the fifth, but were held to just four runs.
The Crimson Knights pitchers combined for 11 strikeouts on the day while Brady Buttice and Carter Burns added three hits on offense. Burns also contributed with two RBIs.
Mike Roach had a 2-run single while George Palmetier got on base with a single in four at-bats.
Afton faces South Kortright, coming off a win over Schenevus, on Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.
