Greene Softball headed to the Class C championship

GREENE – The Greene Trojans softball team is headed to the Section IV Class C championship after a 8-0 win over Spencer-Van Etten.
Greene scored six runs in the first inning off multiple errors by Spencer-Van Etten and RBIs by Olivia Kennedy and Payton Yahner. Kennedy had an RBI single in the third inning while Payton Yahner went 4-for-4 with three singles and a home run in the sixth inning. Her second home run in the last two games.
On the mound, Kennedy pitched a complete game and only allowed a single in the seventh inning. She also struck out 14 batters on the day.
Greene will face Elmira Notre Dame, coming off a win over Tioga, in the Class C championship on Saturday at 11 a.m. at BAGSAI, the softball complex behind Suny Broome.
