Afton Baseball advances to the Class D championship

SOUTH KORTRIGHT – On Wednesday, the Afton Crimson Knights defeated South Kortright 5-2 to move on to the Section IV Class D championship.
Afton was down 2-0 up until the fifth inning, where they tied it up and took a 5-3 lead in the seventh to finish the game on top.
George Palmetier and Ryan Wright led the offense with two hits a piece. Wright drove in two runs while teammate Matt Carman had one RBI.
Wright also struck out 10 batters in 5.1 innings on the mound. Justin Reeve stuck out four batters in relief.
Afton will face an undefeated 19-0 Deposit-Hancock team this afternoon (Friday) in the Class D championship held at Sidney high school. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m.
