SHERBURNE — The Friends of Rogers held their annual Get Outdoors and Get Together Day with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) on Saturday, June 11. Visitors of all ages had the chance to participate in free, guided outdoor activities and demonstrations, including kayak and canoe demonstrations, learning to paddle, and hikes provided by the Bullthistle Hiking Club and DEC Forester Greg Owens. The Rogers Environmental Education Visitors Center was open to the public for attendees to check out the new exhibits as well. Notable attendees included NYS Forest Rangers and DEC Aquatic Biologist Scott Prindle. Other Rogers Center activities that Chenango County residents know and love such as feeding the fish and walking the trails were also available all day. Those looking to dispose of old documents also had the opportunity to bring them up to the Rogers Center for their second annual Shredding Event, in partnership with Preferred Mutual Insurance. More information on the educational programs and events offered by Friends of Rogers can be found at FriendsofRogers.org. (Photo by Dustin Genter)
