BOYS SOCCER: UV/GMU wins home opener against Oxford

NEW BERLIN – After two games on the road, the UV/GMU boys soccer team gave its home crowd a win against Oxford 3-0. The Storm pounded shots early and Owen Hill, who lead the team with the most shots, scored on his own move with less than 10 minutes left in the first half.

The Storm’s next goal would come on a pass from Trevor Smith to Devon Hartwell to go up 2-0. With two minutes left in the first half, Trayson Murray followed through on a penalty kick.

Both teams were held without a goal in the second half. UV/GMU put up 29 shots on goal while Oxford’s lone shot came in the second half off a corner kick. Oxford had opportunities to battle back, but the Storm played a tough defense all the way through.

UV/GMU will stay home to face Delhi on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. while Oxford will be at McGraw on Saturday starting at 11 a.m.
