GIRLS SOCCER: Greene hosts tournament, finishing second

GREENE – This past weekend, the Greene girls soccer team hosted its own soccer tournament, where the Trojans came in second place after losing to Newark Valley in the championship. Oxford defeated Norwich 3-0 in the consolation game.
In the first round of the tournament, Greene notched three goals in the 3-0 win over Oxford. After a scoreless first half, Cassie Butler scored on a pass from Sarah Markham to get the Trojans on the board. Markham would score an unassisted goal, along with Caitlin Walls. Goalie Molly Cornell had 10 saves in the win.
After defeating Norwich 5-0 in the first round, Newark Valley went on to win against Greene 1-0 in the tournament championship. The lone goal in the game would come with 4:33 left in regulation.
