GOLF: Norwich earns second place at Sectionals

HORSEHEADS – The Norwich Purple Tornado golf team competed against Seton Catholic, Windsor, and Owego in the Section IV Class B Sectionals. Sectionals were held in Horseheads, which was neutral to all teams.
“Tournament sites are always a neutral and new to almost all who play in the tournament,” Dave Branham, Norwich’s head coach said. “The Norwich team didn’t quite have their best today, but with each tournament the kids play in, hopefully they will learn a bit more about themselves and grow into better players.”
Branham’s team finished in second place with a score of 479 with Seton Catholic coming out on top with the lowest score of 466. Norwich was not very far off with Braden Reid, Julien Smith, and Jacob Dowdall finishing in the top nine golfers.
Reid finished with a 89, Smith with a 93, and Dowdall with a 96 . Aiden Stafford (97), Jacob Morris (104), and Logan Waters (109) all received the nod to attend.
