Butternut Valley Grange news

GILBERTSVILLE – Butternut Valley Grange, Gilbertsville, will convene on Monday, October 10 at 7 p.m. at the Grange Hall, 7 Bloom Street. The social committee for the evening is Paula Evans, Maryanne Campbell and Barb Hill.

At the last meeting, Jackie Foster of the local library, visited with the Grange and showed several books that the Grange’s donation from the nickel challenge, purchased for the summer reading program. Nate Talbot, Village Mayor also addressed the group, covering an update of the creek restoration in back of the Grange Hall, mentioning the $50,000 funding from the County, with appreciation to our County Representative, Jerry Madsen. Talbot also mentioned that local trick or treating will be observed on October 31 from 5 to 7 p.m. Lastly that a new flag pole will be installed at Centennial Park soon.

The membership voted on renovation decisions for the Grange kitchen. The Grange voted to purchase the beverages for the Welcome to Gilbertsville event, for the several new neighbors that have recently moved to the community, event was held on September 18 with over seventy in attendance.

Anna Ritchey, Chair of the Community Service Committee reported a successful start to the Mini Lunch Meal project when nearly 30 meals were delivered to various individuals in the area during the last week of August and September. The next meal day is October 26 with chicken and biscuits. People who wish to contribute to this caring neighbors project are encouraged to contact Ritchey at 563-1104.

A pulled pork and mac and cheese dinner will be available on Sunday, October 30 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. for take out or dine in. Pre orders are preferred by Friday, October 23 by dialing 563-1104. Delivery will be available in the village of Gilbertsville.

The initiation ceremony will be conferred at the December 12 meeting.
