Mechanic stops thief from stealing car part and holds him for police

ONEONTA – On October 7 the New York State Police at Oneonta arrested Jesse T. Sklenarik, 31 of Oneonta, (homeless) for attempted petit larceny after he allegedly tried to steal a catalytic converter. 
A trooper was dispatched by Otsego County 911 to a report of a larceny in progress at Certified Auto in the Town of Oneonta. 
When the trooper arrived, an employee was holding down Sklenarik after the employee observed Sklenarik attempting to cut the catalytic converter off a vehicle on their property. 
Sklenarik was arrested and transported to SP Oneonta for processing. 
He was released on an appearance ticket to the Oneonta Town Court on October 18, 2022.
