Edmeston Museum presents History of American Funeral Directing for Halloween
EDMESTON - Join the Edmeston Museum in welcoming Gordon Terry who will give a presentation on “The History of American Funeral Directing” will be at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, October 30, at the Edmeston Municipal Building (brick building on the four corners).
The exhibit asks: “The funeral director is now very much the custodian of the body, preparing the body and allowing access to it.” but, was that always the it was done?
His presentation is based on his past work as Associate Professor of Mortuary Science at SUNY Farmingdale.
Gordon Terry is a licensed funeral director for over 40 years. He has been a member of the New York State Funeral Directors Association since 1990, being the organization’s president from 2008-2009. Locally, he has recently retired from the Terry Funeral Home (once the Houk and Terry Funeral Home; now the Delker Funeral Home).
Gordon’s presentation on October 30th is free and open to all. Refreshments will be served.
