Norwich Cross Country competes at STAC Championship

OWEGO – Over the weekend, the Norwich Purple Tornado cross country teams competed at the STAC championships. Norwich appreciated competing against other teams in their conference who had strong runners. Some teams were even state ranked, including Corning, who won both the boys’ and girls’ races and is currently the number one team in the state.
For the boys, Drew Brooks led the way for Norwich in 16th place with a time of 17:02 while the rest of his team fell behind but still finished. Caden Sutton took 42nd place with Anthony Bourne in 49th place. As a team, Norwich finished ninth out of 14 teams.
While Corning dominated for the girls, Norwich’s Annie Boland and Kyra Brunick-Davis finished strong. Boland came in 48th place with Brunick-Davis not far behind her in 52nd place.
Overall, coach Shaun Horan was proud of how his team performed against the strong competition.
